Jean-Yves Thibaudet Plays Gershwin

Posted by Salman

Tonight we went out with our dear friend Mimi and watched Jean-Yves Thibaudet play with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra at the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. It was a fabulous performance. There are three more nights of performances by Thibaudet. A must see if you are in LA.

A view of the stage before the orchestra performed.

The pipe organ, we’ve yet to hear.

A Good Day In Puerto Rico

Posted by Salman

Julien shot these photos on a trip that we took to Puerto Rico back in the mid 90’s. Some locals guided us to this old concrete half-pipe in a corn field out in the middle of nowhere. After skating it for awhile we returned to our hotel and sat down by the bar and ate homemade crab soup while sipping on some cold ones. That’s what I call a good day! At the bar from left to right. Cardiel Spitfire 42mm Firewalker c.1992

Posted by Salman

Last year I was up in San Francisco and stopped by Deluxe to see some friends. Thiebaud gave me this wheel while we were visiting in his office. If my memory serves me correctly the wheel in the image below is from around 1991 or 1992. I’m assuming that the wheel had something to do with Cardiel jumping through the ring of fire on the cover of Thrasher Magazine around the same time. I recently mounted it to a painted canvas simply because I didn’t want to find it in my dogs feces by surprise.

Raymond Pettibon & Mark Gonzales Collaboration

Posted by Salman

We were in the side office over at Regen Projects visiting with some friends a couple of days ago when I spotted a Raymond Pettibon painting with a drawing in it that looked like something Mark Gonzales had made. Turns out it is a piece that the Gonz collaborated on with Pettibon. Pretty damn cool. Too bad Pettibon’s work is way out of my price range or I would have snatched it up. Below are images of the collaboration and a couple other paintings I took snap shots of. We probably viewed over 100 pieces total. It must have been our lucky day!  Thanks to Heather at Regen Projects!
